Dress for your Body Type - Pear shaped


All ya pear shaped babes out there rule number 1, don’t call yourself “pear shaped”! As a dear friend once said, you are “deliciously curved” in the right places. There you go, now that we have established the fact that you are already delicious, lets move on to what works and what does.

 
Do’s:

 

  • Boot cut Jeans are your best friends!! They balance out your hips, and look sleek and modern.
  • Wear a jacket that hits slightly below or above the hip. Remember, if your top or jackets hits your widest part, you are in trouble.
  • Slight a-line, love them!! Yes, they skim your butt, but then they flare out, and that is a good look with the right jacket.
  • Look for wider necklines that will balance your shoulders to your hips (and a bit of skin show never hurt anyone).
  • Make sure that your tops fit right- too tight, and you may have to deal with the sausage effect, and too loose and you will look two sizes too big (God forbid!!).
  • Finally, accessorize!!! Scarves, long necklaces, big earrings- bring attention to your face. Works every time!!
  • Don’t forget shoes- a well heeled beautiful, sassy shoe will always work to elongate the leg, and make the whole outfit pop!!

Don’t’s:

 

  • Stay away from anything too tight or anything too big. Too tight is just a sad attempt to look thinner, doesn’t work!! And too big, is well, just too big!!!
  • Skinny jeans- we are divided on this, so to stay safe, just stay away. Stick to boot cuts!!
  • Don’t get a coat that hits you mid thigh. On second thoughts, don’t get anything (a top, dress, skirt) that hits you mid thigh.
  • Finally, beware VPL – Visible Panty Lines – check and recheck before you leave home – and visit the nearest store that carries Spanx (a great alternative to staying away from VPL, while avoiding thongs.

Finally, regardless of what you wear, walk as if you own the world!!!

Ekta, Ekta, Ekta, ye kya hai??? The top is a classic sweater over a shirt, and would look great with a pair of jeans or black pants, but over a pink tiered full length skirt- oh no!!! Not only does it look dowdy but also adds inches to your girth!!
