LIFW- Manish Malhotra
Glimmer shimmer- Fancy schmancy
We know you’ve all missed us tons, and trust us, we’ve missed y’all a lot too. But honestly, we’ve been MIA (missing in action) for a very good reason. We’ve been working on our new website… so very exciting, isn’t it?? Well, ladies get ready for some serious action, for once our new version is up and running, you will be able to interact not only with us but also with each other. Yippppeeeee!!! All fashion loving desi divas unite in one spot!!!!
Since we were buried in the basement (working on the new site), we missed out on giving you all the latest on the Lakme Fashion week going on back home. So over the next week, we’ll give you a quick primer on all the shows, our thoughts on who you should be looking forward to, and who you should be avoiding.
Today we want to start with one of the most popular designers out there, none other than Mr Bollywood favorite, Manish Malhotra. We want to split his show coverage into two parts, the first one being the gazillion celebs who attended the show, and then the show itself.
As expected, celebs showed up in full force, some looking fabulous, some looking TTH (Trying Too hard), and some just looking plain terrible. Padma Lakshmi looked fabulous in a turquoise ensemble, but carried a tan ostrich Hermes Birkin bag. Now we know that bag is a classic, but it just didn’t go with the outfit, and the event (this is a clear case of TTH!!). Queenie Dhody looked elegant in her coral dress, love the fit , the golden cuff, and the gorgeous golden clutch (though it might not fit a lot, she’s carrying everything in her hand).
Gauri Khan showed up wearing a shirt dress (yet again!! Remember the white one she wore to an event a few weeks ago), and the dress just made her look big in the hips. Oh and just in case you didn’t notice, her face was shiny (yes..yet again!!). Diya Mirza made quite a fashion statement wearing a gorgeous mini, that completely played up her svelte legs.

Moving on, a short sentence to describe the show itself was “Glimmer-shimmer in coral, champagne and pink”. Now we usually love Manish Malhotra, but this time around he had us in a tizzy… Isnt this show supposed to be the Fall 2008 show?? Well none of his dresses looked appropriate for fall. It was clearly a spring inspired show. Now nothing really wrong with getting your seasons mixed up, but a lot of ensembles looked badly put together, and the baby pink looked blahhhhhhhhhh. Having said that we loved the varying shades of coral, and the gorgeous champagne gown on the babe with blond hair. Personally, we feel Manish Malhotra could have definitely done better, this collection doesn’t inspire us one bit!!!
